水で半分満たされたコップを見て「半分水が入っている」と捉えるか「半分空である」と捉えるかで楽観・悲観がわかるといった話があるけど、コップを人生の密度として考えるのなら、僕は「好きなもので満たせる空白があと半分もある！」と考えるから、楽観と悲観のどっちに属しているのかわからない。

僕が他人の文章を読んでいて覚える「心地よい共感」は、「持っているものが同じ」という感覚よりは、「持っていないものが同じ」という感覚である場合が多い。だから、人間的に欠けているものが多く、あまりお近づきにはなりたくない人の書いた文章の方が心地よい、という不思議な現象が起きる。

経験してきたことすべてを肯定できるのが大人なんだ、という考えも一理あるとは思います。ただ、僕は、「どうしても許せなかったこと」だけは覚えていてほしいんです。大人になっても肯定できないことが、確かにあったはずなんですよ。それを忘れるのは、子供の頃の自分に失礼だと思うんです。
