崇徳院は「皇を取って民となし、民を皇となさん」と言ったが、これは「民」=「武士」と言う意味なのかもしれない。つまり、王家に代わり武士が世の頂きに立つ。武士の世に一気に革新したのは、崇徳院の力の影響もあったはず。

崇徳院があれほど、権力欲に執着したのも「世を良くしたい」と言う根本的な思いがあってのことだったのかもしれない。それが崇徳院の優しさだったのかも知れない。しかし、それ故その思いはあの出来事により裏目に出てしまった。
