ジャマイカ音楽のルーツは、一定の社会的機能を果たすように進化してきた民族音楽てある。ポコマニア教派の音楽やジョンカヌーという仮装祭の横笛と太鼓の音楽、ヨーロッパのクアドルなどが挙げられるが、プランテーション制度から直接生まれ、引き継がれてきた労働者の歌がある、メントである！

メントは最初に録音されたジャマイカ音楽であり、使用される楽器と曲種の両方において民族音楽的要素がとても強い。一般的にジャマイカのカリプソと言われていたが、実は独自のジャンルと言える。そしてこのメントが他の民族的表現形式と同じ様にその後のスカに影響を与えた！

@geo_diplo 全くですね。Clashと言うRootsを元を辿った上で戦ってるのならけなし合いじゃなくSoundで交互dissってそれに言葉を加えるこれが本当のClashなんですがなぜか曲と言い合ってることが成り立ってないSoundも中にはいます。それは悲しいですね。
