This is a very expensive suggestion. OSINT teams hunting for warcrimes or tracking the war(s) use the API's also to manage their data.
So they wont use them anymore and the volunteer OSINT teams will have problems.

So the good news is high-altitude balloons can be taken down rather quickly (at least in certain circumstances if we need to. But the issue is that if we expend missiles for every ballon, we're gonna run out of missiles well before they run out of balloons. 7/10

I hope we don't get complacent. I still stand by my belief that the US lacks a *cost-effective* way of downing balloons. I think it's critical we develop DEW or some other way of downing these things on the cheap, cause they aren't a capability the PLA is done with 8/10

A final point of reflection: anecdotes are not good evidence but sometimes in military analysis they're all you have. AFAIK there's only two instances of fighter jets downing balloons and this is one of them. So there's a lack of data that means you have to take what I… 9/10

ちなみに最近のサイドワインダーは熱源ではなく周囲との温度差を画像として探知・追跡できるので、気球でも普通にトラックできます
気球が飛んでた高度65,000ftは-50℃を超えますが、そこに正常に動作してる気球が太陽光を浴びながら飛んでるのを想像すれば簡単です

@hidegingayo 同性婚も子宮移植も、政府が生殖云々とか個人の性生活まで政府が干渉してきたら行き着く先はかなり不気味な社会になる気が。一人っ子政策時代の中国でに二人目妊娠を密告されて病院へ連行されて強制中絶とか、ナイジェリアの赤ちゃん工場とか、おぞましい実話を連想してしまう。
