ワカンダの、アフリカの特定の民族や国家をモデルにしているわけではなく様々な意匠をミックスしている無国籍感も、造り手にアフリカ系が多いにせよ結局はアメリカ人による（乱暴に使われ気味な言葉なので取扱い注意だが）所謂「文化の盗用」にはあたらないのか、という疑問もあった。

ただ、その後実際にブラックパンサーを見て思ったのは、これはキルモンガーが（そして作り手達が？）幼少の時分にあの狭いアパートで不思議な本を読みながら想像したアフリカなのかな、ということだった。それはオリエンタリズムかもしれないが同時に第三者が一概に否定できないファンタジーでもあり。
