中世ではお米は新米より古米のほうが高く、銭も新しいものより古銭のほうが価値が高かった。何故なら古米は乾燥していて炊いた時新米よりもかさが多くなり、古銭は既に多くの人が使ったということで「信頼性」が高かった。こういう「感覚の違い」は歴史を見る時しっかり頭に入れておきたい
