@utumikeiko 私の祖母は本所小学校の防空壕から逃げ出し(熱くて中にいられず死んでもいいと思って外に出たそう)、隅田川沿い、たぶん蔵前橋の下に逃げ込んで助かりました。そこではぐれてしまっていた祖父と再会出来たそうです。

@utumikeiko 父と父の母(私の祖母)は火の中を逃げている時に消防車が分けて入り、別れ別れになり、それが父と祖母の永遠の別れになりました。
父は荒川を泳いで逃げて、目に火傷をしたそうです。
父は戦争の話は殆どしませんでしたから何かの拍子に聴いた話です。
そして父の戸籍の記録は焼けてしまっていました。

1. Wasn’t it the national bird at some time?

数日後に祖父が墨田に住んでる親戚一家を探し回ったが何も無かったそう。
実家の墓誌にはその人たちの名前が掘られてる。小さな子供が居る、四人家族だった。

@utumikeiko 父方の祖父は沖縄に向かう途中、魚雷で海に沈みました。母方の祖父は顎と肩にホクロのような銃創があり、抱っこされてる時にいじったら祖母に触らないよう注意されました。
戦争体験者に当時の事を教えて欲しい反面、辛い記憶を思い出させて良いのか考えてしまいます。

@utumikeiko 疎開先の方が状況を何か察してか、お弁当にと当時貴重な白米の塩むすび二つと蜜柑を持たせてくれたそうです。
汽車は途中で何度も留まり、品川へ着いたのは夕方日も暮れようと言う頃。
品川駅から東京方面遮るものなく見渡せて、まだ煙が上がる空を見て皆恐ろして泣き出したそうです。

@utumikeiko 学生時代、神保町の写真屋の親父さんが「空襲があったと聞いて、召集されていた静岡の部隊から慌てて東京に戻ってきたら、東京駅から皇居までなんにもなくなってた。焼け野原だった」とおっしゃっていました。
あれから二十数年。今でも忘れられません。
