読書感想文というか要するに書評を書くのが読むこと、書くこと、そうやって理解を深めることにおいて優れたトレーニングであることに議論の余地はないが、それを授業でやっていないのにいきなり課題に出すという脈絡のなさだけが問題。本来国語の授業なんかそればっかり繰り返してもいいぐらいだ。

私は本を読むのは好きでしたが、読んだ後の言葉にならないモヤモヤした楽しさや嬉しさを無理に言葉にしなきゃ、と思っていたので、感想文は苦痛でした。

本当に人生変わるような読書体験って、すぐ感想文に流し込めるようなものじゃないんですよね。小４か小５で『西遊記』の全訳を読んで大好きになり、中国文学の道に進み、今は自分が『金瓶梅』の全訳をしていますが、『西遊記』の感想文は「これでは感想文ではなく紹介文みたいですね」との評価でした。

私は文字の読み書きができなくなったのは30歳前後なので漢字はある程度言葉で説明してくれればわかるけど、でもね、例えば小説に弥生ちゃんが出て来まして、漢字の詳細読みで一文字ずつ読み上げて、 弥 という文字を「阿弥陀仏のみ」と言われてもとっさにわからなかったり🤣

読書感想文不要論に絡むんだけど、日本の公教育の「技術不要論」って、本当に困る。体育も美術も音楽も、やらせるだけで「技術」を教えてくれない。自腹払って塾や私学に行かないと「技術、テクニック」を学べないのは、アレはなんなんだろう？ 自然こそが良いという日本の美意識なんだろうけど。

「作文」だって、自分の意図を他者にうまく伝える技術だから教える項目は山ほどあるのに教えない。思ったままを書けと言われるけど、「思ったままを書く」のも技術。受験テクニックに偏りすぎるのはまずいけど、そういうのを教えないから逆説的に「教師受け」とか考えなきゃいけなくなるんだよ。
