では、世界一の農業国と言えるアメリカは、あれだけ世界中に食料輸出するくらいなのだから儲かる農業なのかというと、そうではない。小麦やトウモロコシなど穀物は、政府から所得保障という名の補助金が出てるから農家もなんとか生活できてる状態。つまり作れば作るほど政府からの持ち出しが増える。

もう一つは、外国の胃袋を握ること。アメリカの輸出する穀物は安い。アメリカの平均的農家は、四人家族を養うことができないくらいにしか売上がない。妻に働きに出てもらい、農家の自分は政府から所得保障をもらってなんとか生活。なんせ、トウモロコシの価格は生産に必要な経費さえまかなえない。

近頃、大阪府の越冬鳥業界では、箕面公園が話題。なんとなれば、リュウキュウサンショウクイやキバシリが見られるようになってきたから。珍しい鳥ではなく、新たな普通の越冬鳥の先駆けっぽいから。で、今日見に行った。キバシリはダメだったが、リュウキュウサンショウクイは見れた。もう普通かも。

現状の資源量・品質レベル・価格のものを、わざわざ選んで買ってまで食べたい気持ちがない、という理由がひとつ。
仕事柄、風土・環境も文化財なのに失われるばかり、という寂しさからという理由がひとつ。
