近隣に一番たくさん生えているフタバガキ科の樹木。乾季の最初に降る雨で花芽形成のスイッチが入るようで、それから約2週間で開花に至る。1.5㎝ほどのひしゃげた焼売のような形の花を咲かせる。香りがとても良く、キンモクセイにも負けず劣らず。 pic.twitter.com/qZswzwokev

そして、この中の湯は約31℃しかありませんでした。ただ中の湯には「火地」とよぶ草木が生えてない場所（「瓦斯ヲ発ス、殆ント火気ノ如シ」）があり、そこに低温の温泉を導き通すことで加温できたようです。これも温泉文化の一場面なんでしょうね。
